Bookish Brunette is the online persona of West Midlands based journalist, copywriter and video producer, Jen Evans.
In addition to blogging, going to work, studying for her MA and a gazillion other things, Jen runs Word Candy Copywriting and writes for BitchBuzz.com.
Her first foray into journalism came at the age of 17 when she had an article called “Going for a thong” published in Wolverhampton’s Express and Star newspaper. She has been striving to come up with a better lisp/underwear pun ever since.
Bookish Brunette is a lot like Jen, only way cooler and has much better hair. The other notable difference is that Bookish wears glasses, whilst Jen has spent the past 27 years of her life merely wanting to wear glasses*.
Her interests include getting dressed in the morning, listening to obscure music and referring to the seminal 1995 teen movie, Clueless. She also adores reading, eating patisserie and making good things happen.
The name Bookish Brunette is inspired by Jen’s near obsession with the film Funny Face. The name suits her geeky view of the world, brown hair and love of books.
Rumours that Bookish Brunette is not really very bookish are all false. Though she will admit to dying her hair every few months to maintain the brunette part.
*As of 7th November 2011, Jen is an official glasses wearer. This means that she is one step closer to actually becoming her alter ego. She is now working diligently on her hair and cool factor.
